“Your grace?” Edith said, her face drenched with tears. I was saddened by the news of Duke and Lord Ramsey’s murders, but too angry with Duncan to mourn these men. Of course, I couldn’t tell Edith I suspected this was my husband’s doing. The way I saw it, this was Duncan’s way of teaching the men a lesson, but it was too irrational to be acceptable from my perspective.

“If you need to, Edith. You may take the time to go to the church and say a prayer for the deceased. I’ve nothing pressing today.” I took her hands in mine. “Start your week holiday off early, I can manage with your substitute for the duration.”
